Little Wound School Digital Workshop
July 2001

Winter Count Project

In July 2001, the Little Wound Tribal School of the Pine Ridge Reservation, South Dakota sent a team of students, teachers, and an elder to the NMAI Cultural Resources Center in Suitland, MD to participate in a digital workshop that focused on Lakota and Dakota Winter Counts and their connections to the students' Native American heritage.

The digital workshop activities integrated technology and culture. Students and teachers learned about digital photography, audio recording, computer graphics and three-dimensional imaging using QuickTime Virtual Reality. These activities blended with culture teacher John Around Him's unit on Winter Counts.

The products of the Little Wound School's efforts are offered here to benefit the general public.
